Hempress Sativa and Gage for Reggae Sumfest

When it comes to Reggae Sumfest, no stone can be left unturned. Recording artistes Gage and Hempress Sativa are two of the latest names added to the list of artistes featured on the 22nd staging of Reggae Sumfest.

Gage, real name Ryan Douglas, is expected to bring a young and vibrant persona to the stage on Dancehall Night, Thursday, July 17. However, it is his hardcore dancehall lyrics that will set him apart from the rest, with songs like In Deh, Hey Mama and Kitty Kat.

On the other hand, representing a state of consciousness, reggae vocalist Hempress Sativa will deliver her fiery, yet spirited messages in hit songs like Judgement, March of Babylon and Children of the Emperor. Sativa performs on the festival’s International Night I, set for Friday, July 18 sharing the stage with the likes of Jah Cure, Chronixx and his Zinc Fence Redemption Band, Beenie Man and R&B star Jason Derulo.

Both Gage and Hempress Sativa will be making their debut at this year’s Festival.

Reggae Sumfest is slated for July 13-19 at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

It’s also the reason why Schoolboy Q told me during our NiteCap interview he doesn’t make music videos in his neighborhood. Read more
